Homage to Lavender

We use French lavender in many of our skincare products & potions. Its soothing and anti-anflammatory properties keep us coming back for more. Not to mention, its ultra calming aroma.

Just Bloom

No matter where you are calling home this summer, its the time of year to allow the heat to breathe down your neck like a sensuous lover. Transform your backyard with flowers, pillows and comfortable seating. Find a shady nook, heed to the hammock, read racy books, and sip on fresh fruit spritzers. Love lurks where you'd never thought to look. Jump into the deep end of each day, no questing for logic, but with a desire to fill yourself up with gratitude for the simple splendours. Soak in the starry nights, and the sweet aroma of fresh cut grass and Pura's many natural perfume oils, in harmony with nature. After all, there is nothing better than a good book lying across your chest, or biting into the slice of lemon after you've finished your tall glass of ice-tea.

My most treasured summer memories are savouring the long afternoons and balmy evenings with the company of good friends. Our family essentially lives outside in the summer. The kids are usually so worn out by the end of the day. Dirty and happy children, full of sunshine and dirt between their toes. Just the way they should be. Its my favourite time of the year, so we did our best to make the most of it.

Pura is in full-on summer mode with our first debut at the 124th Street Market next week. If you're in Edmonton, stop by for some strawberry lemonade and to sample the entire line of Pura Botanicals. May this be the most magical summer yet. We hope to see you.

Happy summer everyone.
Oh, and happy to winter to all our beautiful Ausi and Kiwi friends.
Love from Pura

Meet Pura's Ambassador- Erin Chaba

Meet Erin Chaba. Erin makes her home in the pristine Bow Valley. The outdoor enthusiast is a Massage Therapist at the luxurious Fairmont Banff Springs- the historic castle nestled into the majestic Canadian Rockies. Erin is also a Psychosomatics Therapist, who studied at the Australian Institute of Body and Mind Analysis. Amongst the Gold Coast's glittering high-rise buildings, built around superb surfing beaches, she immersed herself in meditation courses to enrich her studies, and at times, took the opportunity to live like a monk.

Her body readings are fascinating- gaging your emotional history, experiences, genetics and personality. Valuable insight, considering she can tell you far more about your inner and outer workings than you know about yourself. Erin is also currently studying Shamanic Training, travelling to New York and Peru. Shamanic healing is the ancient journey into the self, strengthening your connection to the source and merging with the elements, inspiring deep spiritual wholeness. On Erin's days off, she loves practicing yoga, gardening at her wee plot at the green-house, hitting the slopes, and spending time with  her sweet, earthy, kindred man.

There is something so calm, so mystical about Erin, yet she's incredibly grounded and exudes a quiet, soft confidence. Her favs- Pura's Sweet Face Daily Moisturizer, Antibacterial Mat Spray, Lolita Face Drops, Gypsy Mist and Rosemary Blemish Treatment. Visit www.purabotanicals.com to check these Pura tinctures out.

Being a Psychosomatic Therapist and a RMT, I witness, often on a daily basis, when given the opportunity, the body has profound self healing abilities. Especially with the assistance of mother nature's pure and natural ingredients. I chose a life that embodies the change I wish to see in the world. One of the ways I do that is by investing in products that not only nourish me but all that is associated with them. That's why I LOVE Pura. Head to toe, inside and out, Pura is good for me and our environment. Its changed my skin, its changed my life.

MAGIC is natural. It is the harmonious movement of energies to create needed change. Your life is your magic...

To believe in magic is a viable way of enhancing our quality of life. It does require a slight leap of faith. We must see life in slightly romantic terms; recognize falling in love or growing a flower or even cooking a perfect pie as a demonstration of the magic of balance, of everything coming together in just the right way.

Purablisstrip

Welcome, I'm Lane Edwards, the creator of Pura- botancial tinctures for the urban naturalist. This journey to create the most divine and natural beauty elixirs began many moons ago. As a small girl I was forever making potions. Instead of lemonade stands, I'd have space science centre stands, and sell moon juice from Venus and galaxy rocks from the Milky Way. The ingredients were usually collected from my backyard. To me, carefully creating the concoction and then sharing it was the most magical part of all. Today, Pura tinctures are still derived from the earth, yet acquired from the most pristine ingredients extracted from the petals, peels, berries, leaves, stems, bark, wood or roots of a plant. Please feel free to read my bio on Pura's website here to learn more about me and my story.

Pura came to me over many pregnant, sleepless nights. When I carried my first child, I became ultra-sensitive to all beauty products made with synthetic ingredients and chemicals. This was slightly devastating, considering my long-time adoration for traditional perfumes and lotions. My nose began to shun anything slightly toxic, able to detect it quickly and easily. As I began to educate myself more and more, I was overwhelmed with the toxic ingredients put into the majority of skincare, and began the journey of creating Pura.

Pura only uses the finest of natural, eco-friendly ingredients, and is free of everything else. I've mindfully selected essential oils from around the world, harvested from safe and renewable resources. Each Pura tincture consists of a careful combination of essential oils with profound healing properties. NO parabens, sulphates, petro-chemicals, artificial colours, triethanolamine or mineral oils. We are 100% vegan and do not test on animals. Our tinctures, handmade in Canada, are created to promote healthy, gorgeous skin, and a deep connection to all things earthly and beautiful. Always nourishing, always pure. Pura is about living consciously, spreading love and connecting with others that are also inspired by following their inner bliss.

Here are some of the pictures from my Purablisstrip to Venice Beach, California. The name for my adventure seems appropriate on so many levels. I hope these images exude the love and happiness this trip was vibrating with. One month prior to this trip I had brought on Pura's second ambassador- Myrah Penaloza. I was thrilled to travel to California for Myrah's photoshoot and soak in some serious inspiration for Pura. California is really the source for free spirits and purists alike. It was time to test the market and create new possibilities. Pura is fueled by intuition, and the desire to make meaningful connections around the world. I feel honoured to share Pura Botanicals with you and the earth. Pura is a labor of love- my vessel...so grateful to be here.

Day One
"Happiness is Best When Shared." Jack Krakhauer- Into The Wild

Day Two
When Myrah met me in the morning, she brought me this yoga mat made with premium bio-degradable jute. Its consciously created by a company called Affirmats. It was on my wish list, so I was stoked to receive such a beautiful, eco-friendly mat. It definitely got some great use in some incredible classes down there too, so thank you Myrah and my friends at Affirmats. Every asana, and every breath on this mat feels better. I am spreading the good word.

I can't tell you how much I loved Gratitude Cafe in Venice Beach. Incredible vegan cuisine,
totally affordable, and such an awesome concept that needs to be in every community.
I was delighted to indulge... everyday. Loved it!

The Whole Foods in Venice Beach is the the largest location in California- lucky me.
This really is the Holy Grail for natural foodies.
A magical mecca for pure eating- I was in heaven.

 All hail to kale.

I came home that night with three grocery bags (maybe a little excessive for one person) stuffed with naturally made goodness that swooned and nourished- this probably being my fav. Potent and revitalizing- a total health zing to every cell in your body.

On my way to meet up with Insiya Rasiwala-Finn for tea. This is an amazing yogi, green-living mama and writer I've been wanting to connect with for awhile. Check out her lifestyle blog, YOGUE, here. We met up at Cafe Gratitude... and it was as if we had known each other for years. We bonded over motherhood, yoga, the lives we've chosen, and our delicious hot lemon, ginger, cayenne and honey tea. Insiya's hubby, Eoin and their sweet, gorgeous boy, Ananda joined us mid-way through. They are the most genuine, open-hearted peeps- I'm so thrilled I got to spend a little bit of time hanging out with these guys.

I was overjoyed when they offered to become Pura's travelling ambassadors. I'm thrilled to have them on board. Insiya and I were sad we didn't get a photo together- but I guess we were too caught up just enjoying each other's lovely company. Next time! Until then, the Finn's are travelling the globe sharing the Blissology Project,  something you gotta check out. These guys know and wrote the sentiment, "Love is the ultimate renewable resource."

Day Three- Santa Monica

Trying on a few things at Free People, Santa Monica
Took this one home with me.

In pure we trust, in love we grow...

Pura's Gypsy Mist- inspired by the fabulous Myrah
With rose geranium, lavender,
patchouli, vanilla and rosewood

I love being behind the camera- the world is truly a beacon of beauty behind the lens. Myrah was such a joy to photograph. Her free spirit and inner light radiates, touching each picture with her magnetic gypsy soul. We had so much fun inhaling each Pura tincture along the way- soaking in its goodness and allowing the camera to capture all the bliss. Nothing better than being immersed in nature, with someone who makes you laugh so hard you almost pee your pants. Laughter, Pura and nature- three of a kind.

That evening, Myrah took me to the Mission Inn and Spa in Riverside, CA. We walked around the breathtaking grounds, and eventually melted into massive lounge chairs. We ordered a few delicious dishes to share and just soaked in each other's fine company. The perfect ending to my Purablisstrip.
